Mission Statement: Rockwater Project is a nonprofit - 501(c)3 organization started by eight year old Connor and his parents to provide clean and safe drinking water for underprivileged and impoverished people throughout Asia, Africa, North, Central and South America. We operate solely on private donations to fund our operations. Rockwater Project was started because every kid deserves clean water. Our organization had a very unique beginning. Our son, Connor, likes to watch documentaries about animals and nature. One day, he saw a documentary about impoverished children in Africa and India. He saw some children drinking dark brown and muddy water. He was curious as to why these kids did not have clean water like he has to drink. We explained to him that many children around the world actually do not have safe drinking water. In fact, thousands of children die every day from ingesting unsanitary water. The first thought that came to Connor's mind was that something desperately needed to be done. He really didn't know how but he wanted to help. I asked him how he thought he could help. He said there has to be some way that we can get clean water to these kids. I explained to him that it takes money in order to drill wells and/or provide bottled water to these children. I inquired as to how he was going to raise the money needed to begin this project. He thought for a moment and he stated, "we can raise 1 million dollars. We just need to get one million moms, dads and kids to give just one dollar per person. We will then have one million dollars to help these kids get the clean water that they need." Well, this is how Rockwater Project began. My wife and I donated the first $500 to the cause to cover start up costs. We are now trying to raise One Million Dollars by September 1, 2010. We will take whatever amount anyone is will to donate. We understand the economy is down in much of the world. However, we are confident that everyone can afford to donate at least one dollar to this important cause. Like Connor has pointed out, many American, European and Australian kids get $1, $5 or even $10 for doing chores or odd jobs around the house or within the neighborhood. He said he is confident that all his counterparts in the free world can provide just one dollar to help save kids lives. Our First Year Goal: Our goal is to raise one millions dollars from one million people. With the first one million dollars, we project that we can provide a lifetime worth of fresh, clean and safe drinking water to 500,000 villagers in rural and impoverished areas of the world. The clock is ticking. We are hoping to have this money raised and have plans in place to use the donations by 9/1/2010. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST AND SUPPORT!! ***The 501(c)3 status of Rockwater Project is still being processed by the United States Internal Revenue Service.
